The cross-country MWC, scheduled from 5th to 14th March, are also a great opportunity to promote Cogne and Aosta Valley. Many athletes competing during the races, will also experience new cultures and come to know wonderful territories, while sharing their passion for sport and cross-country skiing. This sport attitude is mixed with fun and camaraderie and the medals really count only for athletes who love the challenge and the time trial, not for those who will come to Aosta Valley to enjoy and take pleasure in their holiday.
No matter what you do, relay race or individual race, skating or classic technique, Events in Cogne has prepared a rich program of collateral events and organized half-day or full-day discovery excursions dedicated to wellness, culture and local flavors. On Sunday 8th March, Aosta will be one of the four possible destinations: starting with a walk in the “Rome of the Alps” to admire the witnesses and rests of the past, the visitors will finish with a visit to the wine yards to savor some of the most prestigious mountain wines.
The Fortress of Bard, monumental complex hosting numerous exhibitions and shows, is another of the possible destinations the athletes will discover on Tuesday 10th March. They will also have the opportunity to stop in local cured meat factory and taste some typical Aosta Valley products.
Those who love mountain landscape and well-being can decide to spend a day, the 10th March, on the panoramic terrace of the Skyway cable car, in the heart of Mont Blanc, or to immerse themselves in the silence of the QC Terme waters for the whole afternoon dedicated to relaxation, on Thursday 12th. There will be time to admire all the beauties of the Aosta Valley but also to benefit of a shopping stop that will ensure the pleasure of purchasing high quality sport products.
Cogne will be the protagonist of two special dinners. On Monday 9th March, the typical Italian “Pasta party” where athletes and supporters will gather together and celebrate the event. And on Friday 13th March, the “Gala Dinner” which will close the international event with an itinerant and unique culinary experience.
